The principle
TRACEBACK is built local-first. Content you create — recordings, sensor data and the features computed from them — is processed and stored on your device. What leaves the device, and under which conditions, is set out in detail below.
What stays on your device
- Recordings and the image features computed from them
- The mapping of recordings to named places
- Findings you confirmed or dismissed
You delete this data completely by uninstalling the app, or by using the delete-all-data function in the app settings. Either also removes the key material from system storage.
Leaves the device
Of the content listed above: nothing.
Leaves the device only when you ask
Nothing. This app processes exclusively on the device.
Subscription
This app offers no subscription.
Permissions
The app requests only the following permissions, each for this purpose:
- android.permission.CAMERA (required)
- The app records places and compares later recordings of the same place. Without camera access it has no function.
Third-party services
The app asks for your consent before starting these services for the first time. Without consent they are not started. You can revoke that decision at any time in the app settings.
- Google AdMob — Serving advertising. The ad SDK has no access to recordings, microphone data or locally computed features. Only non-personalised advertising is served — worldwide, regardless of whether you consent to personalised advertising. We do not sell or share personal information.
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics — Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. Only counters, category values and technical error data are transmitted — no content and no free text.
Accounts
This app has no user account with us. There is nothing to register and nothing to delete other than the data on your device.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Because the content resides solely on your device, you exercise these rights there directly. For anything else, reach us at office@r17.at. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
